After an unscheduled detour on the way home we still managed to make the early ferry thanks to Bob and John our drivers:

And the coach well for the most part quite a quiet place:

We arrived back at Ripley 12 seconds after parents were told to meet us at 7.10pm which once again demonstrated how the well the trip had been planned, organised and controlled by Miss Marshall.

A big thank you to Miss Marshall for all the unseen effort over the past 18 months of planning that has gone into the trip and being a greeaat leader over the past 8 days for both students and the staff.

Still some videos to come….so check back next week.

The final morning saw a relaxing time with packing done people headed to the pool for last minute sun, games areas and the internet or just for a sit down!

A nice last night was had with plenty of variety for everyone whether it was the football (won’t mention too much about that!), shooting, acrobatics, pool or just sitting around and chilling there was something for everyone.

The sun was out again for the day at Port Aventura.  Just about everyone braved the scariest rides.  A good day was had by all and Miss Marshall got very wet!

After a long day in Barcelona we all had a quiet night and designed a poster for our Spanish trip:

Sagrada Familia was visited after lunch along with the Olymipic Stadium and a viewpoint looking over the city.

On Tuesday we returned Barcelona to take in some more sites we started at La Rambla where we looked at some street art, looked at some architecture, looked around the Food Market finishing off a couple of hours later for some lunch.

A couple of the students had a birthday while away and received cards presents and BIG cake…..happy birthday fellas!

Karaoke…

The tunes were belting out on Monday night as we took over a Karaoke bar and entertained the tourists.  Just about everyone did a turn. Some people had to be wrestled of the microphone to give others a chance and the teachers put on some fairly suspect performances that threattened to clear the bar!

There are somne photos below to give a taste of the evening but some videos will follow.

Well after the market on Monday the weather changed for the better for our arrrival at the waterpark with sunshine all afternoon.

We had almost the entire run of the park to ourselves.  With everyone have a great time, especially Mr Monaghan! Waterpark2

Hi everyone just a very quick post to say more photos and video will be on the way tomorrow morning…..

….just all go go go……

Yesterday for day 2 in Barcelona went well with a look at all the major sites followed by a dip in the pool and a quiet night doing some posters and worksheets at the hotel….

Today has been an epic at Port Aventura only getting back an hour ago.  Fun was had by all and pictures will follow of amongst other things Miss Marshall being very wet!

So check back tomorrow for photos and videos of karaoke, Barcelona and Port Aventura.

Water park this afternoon followed by singing this evening so keep checking back for updates!

S0 which video would you all like to see?

  • Miss Marshall singing
  • Mr Bond singing
  • Mr Monaghan singing
  • Mrs Mann singing

Students demonstrated their negotiation skills at the market with some success.  A number bagged some bargains as you can see below:

A quick breakfast before the market…

The sun remained out as we made our way to the park to have a picnic and look at some spectacular architecture!

Visit to the Nou Camp brought the sun.  Lots of smiles aprt from Mr Monaghan who was bemused about people getting their photo taken with the European Cup….surely Utd are holders at leaset for the next few days!  Money was also exchanged in the shop for brothers, sisters, Dads and Mums.

We went for a walk the other night for ice cream and have a look at the fountains.  Some people got a little wet!!!

Everyone has done well at arriving ontime everytime when required as well as being just a fab group….so well done all!

Students spent the afternoon polishing their Spanish skills with a little role play where planning was intense:

Check back for photos of the actual role plays…..dinner is calling!

Students (and staff) took part in a sand castle competition with a Spanish Theme and Spanish judges.  The judges were very thorough and you can see them with Miss Marshall below:

After a long journey Ripley arrived in Spain a few hours early then hit the pool!

Morning saw a stop at a services and a bit of time to freshen up and get a bite to eat just outside Montpellierthen onto Spain.

Tiredness set in and problems with the air conditioning set in with the back being like a sauna and the front like a fridge.  However most got at least some sleep although all chocolate at the rear of the coach was changed to warm liquid!  The trip split up by a stop at the services….but no burgers were being served how did we survive?

The ferry only lasted 90mins but provided enough time for most to get a bite to dring and/or a drink.  Despite many other school groups our students did Ripley proud1

The journey seemed to flash by very quickly with games, video and chat.  Although most chat was done via Nitendo DS with the help of bluetooth.

Hi there just to say we all arrived safely a few hours ahead of schedule. Only once were the words “Are we nearly there yet” heard!

The icey hotel pool had a dry run with everyone earlier and we have just finished our buffet style dinner.  Think an early noght will be had by all.

So please check back here for photos of the journey tomorrow evening when wireless connection issues have been remedied!

Everyone was just about on time for the off this morning at 6.30am!  Apart from Miss Marshall’s sandwiches which needed to be brought quickly by special delivery!

Get ready for Karaoke bring the words for a song that you can sing…so you can practise for a few days.

Looking to see everyone singing as a group or solo so get your thinking caps on.

Also you need to think of the song you would like to see the teachers sing! Be nice…..

Students met for the last time today at Lunch to hand over their passports and get final minute arrangements for Thursday morning!

And the shocking news was we have to meet even earlier.  Due to potential traffic problems the coach will now leave Ripley at 6.30am!  So set those alarms boys and girls!

Welcome to this Blog that will tell the story of the Ripley Spanish Trip 2009.  Check back here from 21st May 2009 to 29th May 2009 for updates and pictures from the trip!
